CHAMPLAIN VETERINARY CLINIC Hemmingford – 450 247-0090 clinvetchamplain.com  (February 2020)

Dr Shannon Whatman purchased the home of Erna Somerville in 1999 with the intention of establishing a veterinary practice in the village of Hemmingford. After the conversion of the first floor of the residence into a clinic was complete, The Champlain Veterinary Clinic opened its doors on February 15, 2001. It was a day of mixed feelings for the community as it welcomed a new veterinarian into its midst but also bid a final farewell to Dr. Denis Clairmont who practiced veterinary medicine in the area for 50 years.

As the practice grew over the next 10 years, accommodating staff, patients and clients became more difficult at the small clinic. A search began in earnest to find a property to accommodate the growing practice. In fall 2010, the Cyan Printing property at the corner of Goyette and Barr was acquired, and renovations were overseen by local general contractor J.L Priest. The clinic equipment and supplies were moved to the new location during the final weeks of the summer of 2011. Once the phone lines were transferred, The Champlain Veterinary Clinic Inc. moved to its new premises on September 1, 2011.

For almost 20 years, Dr Whatman and her staff have specialized in advanced professional animal care for cats, dogs and horses in Hemmingford. The clinic has the latest equipment such as thermal imaging and a class IV therapeutic laser as well as surgical facilities to handle regular and emergency surgeries. The clinic is a warm and inviting place where you can be sure your animals receive compassionate health care. Whether your pets require an annual check-up, vaccinations, veterinary prescription diets, or a professional grooming, Dr. Whatman and her team at the clinic are ready to serve you.
