Comptoir Familial St.Romain: you will find what you are looking for!

Located opposite St.Romain Catholic Church on Frontier Street, Comptoir Familial St.Romain is an initiative of the Fabrique St.Romain parish. The building, which was built in 1946 by the Catholic parish, has had several vocations in the community over the years. In 1970, the space was leased to the lock manufacturing company Dudley Inc. which it held until 2009. That same year, the company chose to move its plant to Ontario, leaving a vacant space. St. Romain parish Fabrique had the idea to install a “fripperie”: in addition to offering clothing to residents of Hemmingford and its surroundings at lower prices, the funds raised would be used to cover the maintenance costs of the building. In addition, clothing in good condition would have the chance at a second life!

In 2010, Comptoir Familial St.Romain opened its doors. Since then, the Comptoir has offered a range of clothes and shoes in good condition at low prices for the whole family including many brand names. The thrift store also offers a range of jewelery, furniture, tableware and decorative items and you can also find bargains on books and children’s toys. You will find what you are looking for!

The operating principle of Comptoir Familial St.Romain is simple : residents can simply drop off clothes and small goods at any time in the trunk at the entrance of the building. Dedicated volunteers are involved in sorting and labeling for sale. For larger items like furniture, you can call and make an appointment before dropping them.
