La Bartavelle: a Québécois bistro in … Hemmingford!
by Janie Van Belle
We’ve all seen a geode, a big hollow stone which, when opened, reveals its beautiful interior walls of diamond-like quartz. La Bartavelle will recreate that experience. Located at the same address as the Shooting Club La Roue du Roy, the restaurant, open since July 2014, is a diamond for you to discover.
You will be welcomed by friendly staff, including butler Timothy Thoms, who will guide you through the innovative menu inspired by local products. Indeed, Executive Chef David Godin Pelletier shops locally and from local producers for inventive cuisine ingredients. Thursday nights are dedicated to tapas, making for a very unique evening! The kitchen team considers any allergy and will prepare for you a safe and equally magnificent dish.
Owner Gabriel Gagnon constantly innovates! Enjoy the elegant dining room; also available is a comfortable area for groups and a remarkable terrace that overlooks the peaceful countryside of Hemmingford. During autumn, part of the terrace is heated allowing diners to enjoy the outdoors for longer. Why not organize a small scotch-cigar evening overlooking a view of the scenery?
The bar is a very friendly place to meet friends for a drink or coffee with comfortable armchairs and sofas. Chef David explains that with a modern sealing system, high quality wines can be enjoyed by the glass! Surprising cocktails, created with products from the region, celebrate each season.
La Bartavelle, located at 882 Quest Road, in Hemmingford, is open Thursday to Saturday from 9am to 9pm and Sunday from 9am to 5pm. From April, the resto will be open on Wednesdays from 9am to 5pm. Come here on foot, by car or helicopter!
