Buying Power

We all have a role to play in fighting the recent tariffs being imposed by the U.S. Government. Our Buying Power is our best tool to both show our discontent with these tariffs and to support the Canadian economy. Keep the jobs in Canada!

Of course, the more locally you buy, the better you support your local economy and the planet, by reducing transportation costs and, consequently, also cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions. An added advantage is that you also are buying fresher produce!

Please consider buying from local farmers! Here is an updated list of places in Hemmingford offering local food products : LOCAL FOOD PRODUCTS. Local frozen produce is also available in the freezer outside the Post office: Les Complices Alimentaires.

Sometimes, other produce may seem “cheaper” but has hidden costs, your money is leaving the community. Fruits and vegetables produced locally are produced by residents paying municipal taxes in our region who contribute to our local services.

Other local businesses/services to be considered are posted on the Business Index of the Hemmingford Township website. We are so lucky to have a grocery store in our community that promotes local producers and offers a good selection of Quebec and Canadian products, our “Marché Tradition”. Local products are marked by blue or red “Nos Produits d’ici” labels.

Selecting where you spend your money, for food, drinks, services, gifts and holidays, is the best way to support Canada.
